Ear and Hearing Loss Disorders:
Diseases of the ear including wax impaction, recurring ear infections, hearing loss, ear drum perforations, middle ear tumors such as cholesteatoma, diagnosing acoustic neuromas, facial weakness or paralysis, ringing in the ears or tinnitus, balance disorders and vertigo. Frequently performed surgeries include ventilation tubes (PE tubes), adenoidectomy, tympanoplasty, middle ear exploration and reconstruction, mastoidectomy. Treatment of hearing loss may require surgical intervention, treatment with medications, or amplification with hearing aids.

Hearing Loss and Presbycusis:
We diagnose and treat hearing loss due to aging called presbycusis, noise-induced hearing loss, sensorinuerual hearing loss due to other causes including infections, auto-immune disease, tumors and vascular pathololgy. We have two Audiologists who are experienced in the rehabilitation of hearing loss with hearing aids.

Nasal and Sinus Disorders:
Including difficulty breathing through the nose (nasal obstructive symptoms), recurring sinus infections, rhinitis or drippy nose, post nasal drip, allergy symptoms, headaches or facial pains, nose bleeds, nasal tumors, alterations or loss of sense of smell. Surgical interventions include nasal septal reconstruction, Turbinate reduction, Endoscopic sinus surgery, balloon sinuplasty, excision of nasal polyps and other tumors.

Snoring and Sleep Apnea Disorders:
Disorders of loud snoring with or without apnea are diagnosed and treated. Snoring treatments can range from conservative therapy with positional sleeping, dental devices, injection snoreplasty, addressing nasal obstructive symptoms and other anatomical problems which might be contributory. Apnea treatments vary depending on numerous factors including one’s weight, nasal anatomy, sinus conditions, throat and tongue anatomy, and associated medical conditions. All of these factors are considered in making recommendations. Treatments may include CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) masks – a non surgical approach, or surgical intervention to open the airway.

Voice and Swallowing Disorders:
The upper aerodigestive tract (breathing, speaking and swallowing passageway) is a pathway utilized in coordinating the complex functions of breathing, speaking and swallowing. Only one of these functions can occur at any time, while the remaining two functions are temporarily inactive. This area is frequently evaluated with fiberoptic instrumentation in order to visualize this area, performed in the office under local anesthesia provided as a nasal spray. Disorders include evaluating and treating hoarseness or voice changes, laryngeal tumors both benign and malignant, acid reflux (laryngopharyngeal reflux), cough, post nasal drip, abnormal sensations in the throat, difficulty swallowing, choking spells, and throat pain.

Pediatric Disorders:
Children of all ages are evaluated for numerous pediatric problems including recurring ear infections, hearing loss, persisting middle ear fluid (effusions), snoring, sleep apnea, enlarged tonsils and adenoids, chronic nasal stuffiness or chronic mouth breathing, drooling, recurring throat or tonsil infections, neck lumps, enlarged lymph nodes, congenital masses such as thyroglossal duct cyst, dermoids, lymphangiomas, cancers, hoarseness, vocal fold nodules, congenital masses, cysts, vocal fold weakness or paralysis. Surgeries include ear ventilation tubes (PE tubes), tympanoplasty, tonsillectomy, adenoidectomy, nasal surgery to improve nasal breathing such as turbinate reduction, removal of polyps or tumors, and excision of neck masses.

Head and Neck Disorders:
Evaluation of neck masses or growths, which could include enlarged lymph nodes, thyroid masses, parathyroid masses which cause elevated calcium levels, salivary gland tumors, cancers of the head and neck region, infections and congenital masses. Treatments may include watchful waiting, needle biopsies, ultrasound-guided biopsies for difficult to locate lumps, and surgical excision of masses. Thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy, salivary gland excision and parotidectomy are commonly performed surgeries.
